What would be the ratio of chromosome number between an egg and its zygote? How is the sperm genetically different from the egg?
The ratio of the chromosome number between an egg and its zygote is 1:2. The ratio will always be 1:2 because the egg contains 23 numbers of chromosomes and zygote contains 46 chromosomes. Female contains only X sex chromosome but male contains X and Y sex chromosome which decides the sex of the child. So, when the zygote formation occurs the egg will always contain 1 chromosome but sperm contains either X or Y chromosome.
