Give two reasons for the appearance of variations among the progeny formed by sexual reproduction.
Sexual reproduction involves the production of male and female gametes by the same parent. When the two opposite gametes produced by the same individual is known as bisexual and these two gametes together forms a zygote which develops into a new organism by involving the meiosis process leads to variation. Variation does not occur in asexual reproduction.
By involving the meiosis process i.e, halving of the parental chromosomes inside both of the paternal and the maternal gametes and by their fusion zygote formed which results in the restoration of the original parental number of chromosomes which leads to increase in the genetic diversity.
