Male gametophyte:- Gamete producing organ is Anther.
The male gametophyte is derived from the Microspore or the pollen grains which is produced inside the pollen chamber of another by forming a pollen tube. The mature male gametophyte is 3- celled, one vegetative tube cell or two male gametes.
Female gametophyte:- Gamete producing organ is Ovary
The female gametophyte is derived from the Megaspore or the pollen grains which are formed inside the nucleus of the ovule and always remain embedded within the membrane of the megaspore. The mature female gametophyte is 7- celled, an egg, two synergids (two small nuclei near the egg), three antipodes and a central cell.
