Why is small intestine in herbivores longer than in carnivores?
Herbivores feed on grasses or green plants. These green plants contain cellulose which is hard to digest and takes a long time. To digest the cellulose some symbiotic microorganisms like ciliates or bacteria are present in the guts of herbivorous animals. So herbivores need a longer small intestine to allow cellulose to be digested than in carnivores.
