Why is blood circulation in human heart called double circulation?
Human beings have a double circulatory system and include four chambered hearts (two auricles and two ventricles). Heart’s internal structure consists of auricles, ventricles, blood vessels, apertures and valves (contains various parts). As the blood passes through the heart twice during one cardiac cycle, this is known as double circulation of blood.
The right auricle receives the deoxygenated blood from the body and sends it into the right ventricle that pumps into the lungs through pulmonary arches for oxygenation and the left auricle receives oxygenated blood from the lungs and send it into the left ventricle which pumps it to the body parts through aortic arch and complete double circulation occurs.
