How did Douglas make sure that he conquered the old terror?

Answer:

He had finished his swimming training but didn’t stop there. He wanted to check his confidence so he swam alone in the pool. Then he went to Lake Wentworth to dive. Where he tried everything which he had learned from the instructor. He felt some fear and laughed and said “well Mr. Terror, what do you think you can do to me?” He fought back and finally during his diving expedition in the warm lake. He realised that he had completely conquered his old terror.
