What issue is the poem trying to raise? | Class 6 Social Science - Social and Political Life Chapter Rural Administration, Rural Administration NCERT Solutions

Question:

What issue is the poem trying to raise? Do you think this is an important issue? Why?

Answer:

The issue raised in the poem is that the father inherits characteristics from his father and leaves it to the boy child. The daughter is asking for her rights by expecting a share of the house for her and her mother. She wants her own palace not dowry of silk and gold. The boy child always gets everything but girls are always treated unequally and has to fight for their own rights. They only get anything in the form of Dowry which is eventually given to her husband.

Hence, yes, I think that it is an important matter or issue because a daughter is trying to raise issue about equality. The daughters are not given equal rights. They only get anything only after their marriage, expecting by her husband. Everything is given to her brother and after marriage to her husband. Even she is not given a small share of her house also.
