Can you describe two methods of struggle that the women’s movement used to raise issues? If you had to organise a struggle against stereotypes, about what women can or cannot do, what method would you employ from the ones that you have read about? Why would you choose this particular method?

Answer:

Two methods of struggle that the women’s movement used are mentioned below: Campaigning: To raise their voice for discrimination and violence against women. Women groups raise voice against dowry deaths, sexual harassment. Laws were made in 1997 to save women against sexual harassment. In 1980s, laws associated with Anti dowry were passed. Raising awareness: It is an important work to raise public awareness about women’s rights by public rallies, demonstrations etc. This way we would be able to gather peoples support and let them know about womens problems. It is a innovative and positive way of finding the views and thoughts on the concerned issues thus involving more people. In this way the people who are clueless about women’s problems are also involved.
