Where are B-cells and T-cells formed? How do they differ from each other?

Answer:

Both type of lymphocytes and other cells of the immune system are produced in the bone marrow. B and T lymphocytes are different from each other in the following aspects.

B- lymphocytes (B- cell)

T- lymphocytes (T- cell)

They form humoral or antibody mediated immune system.

They form cell- mediated immune system.

They mature in bone marrow.

They mature in thymus gland.

They produce antibody against antigen.

They directly attack the antigen or attach B- cells to produce antibody.

They do not respond to organ transplantation.

They respond to organ transplantation.

They form by division plasma cells.

They form by division lymphoblasts of three types:

Killer, helper and suppressor cells.
