An artificial satellite is moving in a c | Class 9 Science Chapter Motion, Motion NCERT Solutions

Question:

An artificial satellite is moving in a circular orbit of radius 42250 km. Calculate its speed if it takes 24 hours to revolve around the earth.

Answer:

Distance covered by satellite in 24 hours, s = 2πr = 2 × 3.14 × 42250 = 265330 km

Time = 24 h

Speed = 265330 / 24

 = 11055.4 km/h

 = 11055.4 / 3600 = 3.07 km/s
