Obtain a relation for the distance travelled by an object moving with a uniform acceleration in the interval between 4th and 5th seconds.
Let the object be moving with initial velocity u m/s and uniform acceleration a m/s^2
Using the equation of motion, s = ut + at^2
Distance travelled in 5 sec, s = u x 5 + ½ a x 5^2
s = 5u + 25/2 a
Similarly, distance travelled in 4 sec, s’ = 4u + 16/2 a
s’ = 4u + 8a
Distance travelled in the interval between 4th and 5th seconds = s - s’
= 5u + 25/2 a - (4u + 8a) = (u + 9/2 a) m
