A truck of mass M is moved under a force F. If the truck is then loaded with an object equal to the mass of the truck and the driving force is halved, then how does the acceleration change?
Mass of truck = M, Driving force = F
Force (F) = mass (m) x acceleration (a)
Acceleration of truck = Force (F) / mass (m) = F/M
By the question, the new mass of truck = M + M = 2M
New driving force = F/2
Hence, the new acceleration = (F/2) / 2M = F/4M
Therefore, the acceleration becomes ¼ of real value.
