What is the number of chromosomes in the female gamete?

Answer:

Male and female gametes posses equal number of chromosomes so if in the tobacco plant, male gamete posses 24 chromosomes then female gamete will also be 24 in number. As both the gametes share their equal number of chromosomes that would be double then the zygote will contain 48 numbers of chromosomes (by combining male and female gametes).
