Distinguish between a gamete and zygote. Explain their roles in sexual reproduction.

Answer:

GAMETES ZYGOTE
 Gametes are formed by meiotic division.  Zygote is formed by mitotic division.
 Gametes are produced by male and female.  Male and female gametes fuse to form a single cell called zygote, process is known as fertilization.
 They are haploid i.e, halves number of chromosomes.  They are the fusion of two haploid gametes i.e, diploid- has double number of chromosomes.
 Gametes are produced for the sexual reproduction.

 Zygote is formed by the fusion of gametes and then forms the embryo.
