How does fertilisation take place? Fertilisation occurs once in a month. Comment.
Once in a month, the mature ovum from one ovary is released. Ovaries are the solid organ which is composed of connective tissue stroma. The egg is conveyed from the ovary to the fallopian tubes. During the copulation, male discharges the semen into the female’s vagina. Then sperm from the vagina reaches the ampulla by their own efforts and partly by the action of uterus and fusion of spermatozoan and the ovum is known as fertilization.
As the menstrual cycle occurs in about 28 or 29 days this means that one egg is released in one month for fertilization. Thus we can say that fertilization can occur only once in a month.
