Use of lead-free petrol or diesel is recommended to reduce the pollutants emitted by automobiles. What role does lead play?

Answer:

Concentration of the pollutants (particulates) depends on the industrial emission level. When the traffic level increases with the increase in Pb (lead) level, tetra ethyl is added as the anti- knocking agents to the fuel for the reduction of pollutants emitted by automobiles and this alternatively reduces the air pollution.
