How can slash and burn agriculture become environment friendly?
Slash and burn agriculture commonly known as Jhum Cultivation which occurs in north- eastern states of India that contributed to deforestation. In slash and burn agriculture, the farmers cut down the trees of the forest and burn the remaining plants. The ash from the burning plants used as the fertilizer and the land is then again used for farming or cattle grazing. After the cultivation area is left for some years to gain its fertility ability or recovery. Then again process is repeated in several other areas.
