Question:

Why has the Indian Parliament cleared the second amendment of the country’s patents bill?

Answer:

The Indian parliament has cleared the second amendment of the country’s patent bill because it prevents the overexploitation of the bio- resources (essential components related to economic activities of the Nation) and the use of ancient Indian knowledge and techniques by other countries. Some multinational companies obtain patent on products or services which had been the part of the ancient knowledge. This amendment had the potential of exploitation of indigenous people by commercial exploitation. So, this amendment has to be cleared out.
