What is diapause and its significance?
Diapause is a state of dormancy (the phase or a state of having suspension of physical activities or get slowed down for a period of time; deep sleep for some months) and arrested growth during the excessive heat and cold phase/ period that are usually found in insects, mites. Its significance is: it is a stage of suspended development that is initiated with the unfavorable conditions or when all the life processes are shut down that is most commonly observed in insects or zooplanktons adapt themselves to the unfavorable conditions in lakes or ponds.
