Diseases which are easily transmitted from one person to another, are called infectious diseases or communicable diseases. For prevention and control of these types of diseases, maintenance of personal and public hygiene is necessary, for this purpose, some common preventive measure should be taken are as follows:

1. Education: People should be educated about communicable or infectious disease to prevent themselves from these type of diseases.
2. Isolation: The infected person should be kept isolated to minimize the risk of spreading the infection.
3. Vaccination: People should get vaccinated on time to avoid infection.
4. Sanitation: The sanitation should be improved to avoid infection from water pollution, food poisoning etc.
5. Eradication of vectors: The breeding places of vectors must be destroyed and these adult vectors should be killed by the suitable methods.
6. Sterilization: The patient’s surroundings and articles of use, should be completely sterilized to reduce the chances of infection.
