What are Eurythermic species?
Species existence, abundance and distribution in the ecosystem are defined by the range of tolerance to the environment variables. Shelford’s law of tolerance defines that there are upper and lower limit of tolerance threshold values on the environment gradient above or below amount of values, those species cannot survive. The organisms which have wide range of temperature tolerance are known as eurythermal or eurythermic organisms. The prefix eury - means ‘wide’ which have been used for the wide range of tolerance of an organism to a given environmental factor.
