Drugs and alcohol give short-term 'high' and long-term ‘damages’, Discuss.

Answer:

Curiosity is necessary for doing adventure, excitement and experimentation; they constitute common causes which motivate youngsters towards drugs and the alcohol use. The frequent use of drugs or alcohols encourage people to take them very frequently or even when these are not needed, or even their use becomes self-destructive.

Short term effects of drugs/ alcohols are as follows:

  1. A relaxing effect
  2. Lowered inhibition
  3. Slow reflexes
  4. Reduced coordination
  5. Reduced tension
  6. Poor concentration
  7. Slow reaction time
  8. Sensation and perception that are less clear

Long term effects of drugs/ alcohols are as follows:

  1. Disrupts normal brain development
  2. Liver damage and cirrhosis of the liver
  3. Brain cells die, decreasing brain mass
  4. Stomach and intestinal ulcers and destroyed organs
  5. Male sperm production decreases
  6. Alcoholism
  7. Fetal alcohol syndrome in unborn children
