A typical angiosperm flower consists of four floral parts. Give the names of the floral parts and their arrangements sequentially.

Answer:

The typical angiospermic flower consists of four whorls of floral appendages attached on the receptacle. Four floral parts are: Calyx, Corolla, Androecium and Gynoecium.

  1. Calyx: is the outermost whorl of the flower and the members are known as sepals.
  2. Corolla: is the second outermost whorl composed of floral leaves that arise inner to the calyx. The individual leaf of corolla is called petals.
  3. Androecium: is the third whorl of floral appendages that arise inner to the corolla and the individual appendage is stamen which represents the male reproductive organ.
  4. Gynoecium: is the fourth and the last whorl of floral appendages or carpels and each one resembles a leaf in having three vascular traces. This represents the female reproductive organ.
