Mitochondria and Plastids have their genetic material or DNA called extrachromosomal DNA. They are independent of the nuclear division of nuclear DNA. At the time of cytoplasmic division organelles like mitochondria and plastids get distributed between two daughter cells. Hence, no effect of mitosis is seen on extrachromosomal DNA.
