Pseudomonas and Thiobacillus has great significance in the nitrogen process in which the nitrate present in the soil is converted into nitrogen.
Some of the nitrates, present in the soil are reduced to ammonia and free nitrogen by the anaerobic bacteria like Pseudomonas denitrificans, Bacillus subtilis, Thiobacillus denitrificans etc. and this process of converting nitrates into nitrogen is called denitrification.
