Viruses lie on the border line between living and the non- living. Various characters of viruses that are similar to non- living objects that are as follows:

  1. Viruses do not have complete cellular structure or metabolic machinery of their own.
  2. Do not show growth, division, metabolism and lack respiration.
  3. They have inert crystalline structure outside the living cell.
