Name the structures involved in the protection of the brain.

Answer:

Skull, Cranial meninges (outer layer- dura mater; middle layer- arachnoid and an inner layer called pia mater). Pia meter is a vascular membrane which is richly supplies with blood capillaries space between diameter and arachnoid is called subdural space. Space between the arachnoid and pia mater is called subarachnoid space which is filled with the cerebrospinal fluid, which protects CNS from shocks.
