The place where plants and animals lives is known as habitat. Some plants and animals lives in deserts, land, water, mountains etc. The plants and organisms adapt themselves according to their surrounding environment.
Cactus is a desert plant. It adapt itself according to the desert biome condition. Their leaves are modified into the spines for the less water evaporation and the stomata of the leaf only opens during the night time for the exchange of gases and other activities. Through transpiration process, plant loses water a lot.
(a) Adaptation
Adaptation is the process by which a plant or an animal adapt itself according to the changing environment.
(b) Terrestrial
All land plants and animals are known as terrestrial organisms and as they are living on the land so it is known as terrestrial habitat.
(c) Aquatic
Those plants and animals that lives in water, that habitat is known as aquatic habitat.
(d) Abiotic
All non- living components in the environment are called as abiotic factors.
(e) Stimulus
Because of the stimuli we respond quickly to the change in our surrounding.
Non- living things: plough, sewing machine. Radio, boat, water etc.
Living things shows the characteristics like: growth, requires food for the energy, respiration, reproduction processes etc. above non- living things does not show any characteristics so they all are non- living.
Automobiles like car, bus shows the characteristics of living things. Automobile show movement from one place to the other and they need energy to do the work. All electronic goods also shows the characteristics of living things. All electronic goods need maintenance time to time.
Butter, leather, wool, cooking oil, apple rubber.
These all are once a part of living beings like we get milk from cow. Then after the milk souring we get curd or butter. Leather is made up of animal’s skin. Wool is obtained from sheep. We get oil from the plants. Apple is obtained from the apple plant. Rubber is obtained from the latex, a milky liquid is present in the cells of the plants.
Some common characteristics of living things are:
Speed is important for the survival in the grassland for the animals because in the grassland areas, carnivores and herbivores both types of animals lived there. Tiger is a top carnivore. Tiger eats other animals. So, if the herbivore animals have less speed then the tiger will eat them easily. But as in same condition, if tiger have less speed then he will die hungry. So speed is most important to the animals who lived in grassland areas.
