Answer:

Yes, carpet and curtains/ drapes placed on the floor or wall surfaces can reduce the noise level. They contain muffling devices. Muffle is used to quiet a sound by wrapping it with something to dull the sound. Carpets are the sound absorbers because it is made up of higher density volume of pile tufts, wool fibres, nylon, fibres etc. which absorbs sound and help in to reduce the noise pollution.
